• Emily White
  • Emily is my daughter.
  • Disability Gamechanger and Award winner

Emily is 13 years old and has Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus, Chiari malformation, Scoliosis, and autism. Emily goes to a mainstream school.

When she was 3 years of age, Emily acquired her first wheelchair. She wanted to see people like her on TV and in books, so with the help of her dad, she created 'The Department of Ability Comic', featuring five disabled superheroes with Emily as the leader! Since then, Emily has become a campaigner, competing in a number of races, swimming events and raising nearly £4000. Emily has appeared on Channel 5, ITV News and BBC discussing why disabled children need better access, care and toilets. She has campaigned outside Bathstore in Baker Street in her wheelchair for changing places to be put in all shops and parks, opening several in her community. In 2018 Emily published her first short story.  Emily is currently heading the campaign with her family, to petition Downing Street to have a minister for disabled children and families and works closely with Beano comics as an advisor on inclusion. Emily is currently an orange belt in martial arts and in talks to start filming a BBC project.

Emily has won The 2019 National Diversity award for "Positive young role model"
